Howard University’s Oldest Afrocentric Organization

About

Founded in 1973, Ubiquity is Howard University’s oldest afrocentric service organization. Our members draw on the principles of Kwanzaa (Umoja - Unity; Kujichagulia - Self-Determination; Ujima - Collective Work/Responsibility; Ujamaa - Cooperative Economics; Nia - Purpose; Kuumba - Creativity; Imani - Faith) to uphold the pillars of strengthening the bonds between black people of African descent, community service, and academic excellence. Many of our founding members continue to strengthen our communities through advocacy, political and legal work while others are represented in art, medicine, film, business, technology, and education professions. Our membership includes people from various religious backgrounds; from all over the U.S., other parts of the Diaspora and Africa; as well as members of Greek-lettered organizations. Ubiquity has more than a thousand members worldwide including undergraduate and graduate students at Howard University and at least two hundred alumni who reside in the DC Metropolitan area. We consider ourselves to be a close-knit family, sharing in weddings, births, and other life crossroads, lending support to each other in life’s valleys. All of us have united for a common interest – restoring our people to their traditional greatness. We invite those near and far to join us in the Family and Organization of Ubiquity!
